Butter Swim Biscuits

Published by The Flour Girl on

Buttery, delicious biscuits that are soft on the inside and a little crispy on the outside.

It would be tough as a not-really-southern-but-lives-in-The-South woman to define the perfect biscuit. Over the years I’ve made flaky biscuits, drop biscuits, angel biscuits, copycat cheddar bay biscuits, cream cheese biscuits, 7-Up biscuits…the list goes on. And that doesn’t even include the number of scones I’ve made.

The star of the show is for these biscuits is the butter. As the name implies, you bake them swimming in their own little pool of golden butter. This gives them a slightly crispy bottom and a pillowy soft center. Heaven on a plate.

Enjoy! 🙂

  • Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and knead gently for a few turns, incorporating as much four as needed until dough comes together. Pat dough its a square and cut into nine equal portions. Remove baking dish from the oven and place biscuits on top of melted butter.
  • Bake for 17-20 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown on top.
