Cream Cheese Biscuits
Tangy and tender cream cheese biscuits are easy to make and perfect for any time of day.
Full disclosure, I am not a southern woman. I have called the South my home for the past 40 years, but I was born in the midwest and grew up all over the world. But my family landed here in 1984 and I consider myself more “from” here than anywhere else.
That being said, I’d like to think I know a thing or two about biscuits. I have several recipes that I use, be they the mile-high kind or the cheddar scone kind…they go with damn near everything and are welcome anytime of day.
This version uses cream cheese, which offers a nice little tang to the biscuits. I think these are my kids’ favorites, but to be fair they say that no matter which type I make. 🙂
Cream Cheese Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 ounces cream cheese softened and cubed
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- 3/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Using you fingers or a pastry blender, mix in cream cheese and butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add in milk and stir together with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn dough out onto lightly floured counter and dust with additional flour. Roll out to a rectangle about a half an inch thick. Fold letter-style into thirds, and repeat rolling and folding two more times.
- Roll into a square about a 3/4 of an inch high and cut into nine portions. Place on lined baking sheet, about a half an inch apart, and bake for about 15-17 minutes or until golden brown. Serve fresh from the oven with lots of butter.

You actually make it seem so easy but I’m new to baking. I thought they turned out well though!
