DIY Bisquick

Published by The Flour Girl on

Bisquick is a staple in a lot of homes for a good reason. It’s self stable, it’s great to have on hand for pancakes, waffles and, of course, biscuits.

Sorry…now that’s going to be stuck in your head for the rest of the day (and quite possibly for the rest of your life).

It’s super easy to make at home out of ingredients you probably already have on hand.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening can substitute butter…see note

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a food processor, pulse the dry ingredients two or three times to combine. Add the shortening (or butter) in tablespoon-sized dollops and pulse to combine until the mixture looks like wet sand. Alternatively, combine dry ingredients in a large bowl, and cut in shortening (or butter) with forks or a pastry cutter.

Notes

**If using butter, mixture will require refrigeration.
