DIY Chocolate Syrup
My kids are in their teens. My son is actually WELL into his teens. So well into his teens that we’re staring down the barrel of being a one-kid household. Every time I go out now, I pick up odds and ends like frying pans, dish towels, measuring cups (somehow the bulk of my odds and ends are kitchen related…I wonder why?) and that sort of thing. But we STILL go through chocolate syrup like there’s no tomorrow. My son loves nothing more than to make large glasses of chocolate milk at the end of the day, and my daughter has discovered the art of making coffee shop drinks at home. Making chocolate syrup at home is so incredibly easy and honestly it tastes so much better!
DIY Chocolate Syrup
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 3/4 cup dutch process cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch salt
Instructions
- Combine water, sugar and corn syrup in a medium saucepan and bring to a low boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and whisk in cocoa powder and salt until well combined.
- Continue to cook for 3-4 minutes or until slightly thickened. Add in vanilla and cool before storing n a squeeze bottle (you can even store it in an old hershey’s bottle and no one will be the wiser).
