Soft Breadsticks

Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened

Topping Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter melted
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • shredded parmesan cheese optional

Instructions
 

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the water, honey and yeast. Set aside for 5-10 minutes or until yeast is frothy.
  • Add in the flour, salt and softened butter and knead using the dough hook for about 3-4 minutes or until dough comes together in a ball.
  • Transfer dough to greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Set aside and allow to rise for one hour or until dough has doubled in size.
  • Punch dough dough and roll or pat into a roughly 8" x 10” rectangle. Using a pizza wheel, cut into 12 breadsticks and transfer to baking sheet lined with parchment or silicone. Cover loosely with oiled plastic wrap and set aside to rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven top 400 degrees and bake breadsticks for 18-20 minutes, rotating pan halfway through baking time.
  • While breadsticks are baking, combine melted butter with garlic powder. Once breadsticks are done, brush with melted butter and tip with shredded parmesan if desired. Serve warm.
