Homemade Catalina Dressing

Published by The Flour Girl on

Sweet and tangy Catalina Dressing is the perfect compliment to any salad!

I don’t normally say this, but I’m ready for spring. I’m sooooo much more a fall and winter person, but I guess this year I’m just ready for something to change. It’s probably due to the three ice storms we’ve had back-to-back. I’m fine with snow, but ice, not so much.

But no matter the weather or the season, my standard lunch on any given day is a big, honkin’ salad with tons of fresh greens and a whole bunch of other crap depending on my mood. This dressing is one of my favorites.

As a kid, I always loved Catalina dressing. we always bought the Wishbone brand it I remember it being so incredibly sweet it was practically candy. Perfect to get any kid to eat a salad.

This recipe is still on the sweet side, but I like to cut it with balsamic vinegar instead of white or apple cider. I find it gives the dressing a little more “oomph.” And yes, that’s the technical term for it.

It’s sweet, it’s tangy, it’s the most beautiful, jewel-toned dressing. Enjoy!
