Chocolate Granola
This easy chocolate granola is lower in fat and sugar than most commercial granolas, and it tastes amazing on its own, or paired with some greek yogurt or even ice cream!
For some reason, I have been on a 70’s kick. I have no idea why, other than to guess nostalgia in the middle of all this chaos.
If I were to ask my parents about the 70’s, I doubt they would paint it as some wonderful paradise. At the very, very, very least, think of the clothes. Or the fact that all, ALL appliances either came in avocado green, harvest gold or something called “coppertone,” which was hardly reminiscent of a warm, sunny, coconut-scented day, but more like if that nice, sunny day brought on a terrible thunderstorm that turned everything to mud.
Think I’m joking? Here’s me circa 1975.
I can’t decide if I look so sad because of my Moe Howard haircut, or the hideous drapes behind me. (Sorry Mom.)
And everyone smelled like smoke all the time. Seriously, even as a kid, I remember walking into a restaurant and wondering why there was a “smoking section.” I know I’m not always the brightest bulb on the tree, but I don’t think smoke works that way.
And sooo much blue eye shadow.
But it’s nostalgic for me, because, well, that’s when I grew up.
And the 70’s birthed granola. And it was good! Probably because it was loaded with a crap ton of sugar and fat, but we all viewed it as a ” healthy” alternative to chocolate frosted sugar bombs (which we weren’t allowed to eat).
But here’s an updated version. It’s got a little less fat, a lot less sugar and for the love of Pete, it’s got chocolate! I like to serve this with greek yogurt and blackberries…yum…
